Burgess-Peterson Academy (BPA) is a premier APS public school for the East Atlanta and Reynoldstown neighborhoods, serving more than 550 students between kindergarten through fifth grade and through our Department of Exceptional Education, our special education programs. BPA is an accredited International Baccalaureate World School, and we strive for equity and inclusion as we implement engaging, inquiry-based learning experiences to develop action-oriented, life-long thinkers, and globally minded citizens who endeavor to make positive changes in our community and beyond.

● Our Signature Events:

● Family Math Night, Family Math Night is an opportunity for students and their families to learn more about our rigorous math standards and the ways we teach and practice mathematics at BPA.

● Family Literacy Night We introduced this event in 2022 as a way to celebrate and elevate our work around structured literacy and explicit phonics instruction. BPA believes in the science of reading and we are committed to helping all children be effective readers!

● Culture Fest This popular event, important to our IB program, allows our families and staff to share their family’s culture and heritage with our school community.

● School Improvements Funds directed here will help support our principal’s vision to rejuvenate our community garden, bringing back nature-based lessons, and feeding our community.

● Field Day As one Kindergartener called it, “The best day of my life,” Field Day brings our students, parents, and educators together to celebrate the end of school through teamwork.

● Staff Appreciation BPA’s teachers are exceptional and our PTA fully believes in supporting them with not just the supplies they need, but with thoughtful items like the snacks on our sunshine cart to show them how appreciated they are.

● Other Activities Funds directed here are for school and PTA activities that benefit all students at BPA.
